Panda Chinese Restaurant Reviews

Standard utility Chinese takeout. Its nothing to write home about, but will certainly hit the spot if you're looking a for a quick takeout staples. There are appropriately priced meal specials that hit the spot.

We have been ordering from here for over 20 years and have loved watching the family grow up. Food is consistently good and ordering and pick up are efficient 10 minutes. Our favorite dishes are the Lake Tung Ting Shrimp with Vegetables which we share, Crab Rangoon which is very crispy and fresh, almond cookies and Egg Drop Soup. The combinations a great way to get fried rice and egg roll with your meal. We love the way the vegetables in the entrees are cooked. They have a few tables at the brightly lit restaurant and we have eaten there a few times, but we usually order carry out.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant around! I have tried many but this place has the best egg rolls, Rangoon's, and entrees. I need all three to be excellent to be happy. I've moved 20 minutes away and still make the drive periodically for their food. Combination Plates are a great deal!

Always great. Always OnTime. Always friendly. Consummate professionals. We've been coming here for many years. For us, it's the one Chinese restaurant where everything is consistently solid. Great stuff. Very nice family owned and ran restaurant. Defiantly worth trying if you have not already.
Panda Chinese Restaurant
Panda Chinese Restaurant at 845 E Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030 has become a go-to spot for locals craving authentic, comforting, and flavorful Chinese dishes. Whether you’re new to the area or just hungry for something consistently satisfying, this place answers exactly what you're looking for.
What makes Panda Chinese Restaurant in Grayslake a local favorite?
Tucked along Belvidere Road, this cozy spot isn’t flashy, but it delivers where it matters most—taste, portion, and service. The moment you step inside, there’s a welcoming scent of freshly wok-fired dishes that hints at something special. I first visited on a chilly evening, hoping for something warm and savory, and what I found was a small place packed with regulars and a team that moved like clockwork.
From the first bite of their General Tso’s Chicken, you can tell it’s made with care—crispy, not soggy, with a bold sauce that balances sweet and spice without drowning the dish. Their Hot and Sour Soup actually tastes like it was made in a real kitchen, not scooped from a can. And that matters.
The menu is expansive but not overwhelming. You’ll find all the staples—Lo Mein, Egg Foo Young, Mongolian Beef—done right. What stood out to me was how they nailed the classics without cutting corners. Even the vegetarian dishes had depth, especially the Szechuan Tofu, which had enough heat to remind you you're eating something with a soul.
A closer look at the dishes worth ordering
One of the reasons people keep coming back to Panda Chinese Restaurant is the consistency. You know what you’re going to get, and that’s a good thing. Their Orange Chicken is a fan favorite, not because it reinvents the wheel, but because it sticks to what works: crispy chicken, tangy sauce, just enough zest from fresh orange peel to brighten it up.
If you’re a noodle person, don’t skip the Beef Chow Fun—thick rice noodles stir-fried with scallions and beef so tender it melts. And if you're sharing, the Family Dinner Specials are the way to go. You get appetizers, entrees, rice, and soup at a price that’s honestly hard to beat.
The lunch specials are also a hidden gem—smaller portions, lower prices, same great flavor. They’re perfect if you’re in a rush but still want something hearty and warm that feels like more than just takeout.
Comfort food, quick service, and a place that remembers your name
There’s something about a place where they start recognizing your voice over the phone. After just a few visits, they knew my order and always double-checked if I wanted extra spicy on the side. It’s those small touches that make you feel like more than just another customer.
If you're dining in, expect a clean, no-fuss environment with a few tables and the buzz of a kitchen that's always in motion. Most people go for takeout or delivery, which makes sense given how well their food travels. No sad, soggy spring rolls here. Everything arrives hot, sealed, and still crisp.
The reviews online mirror my own experience—people love this place not because it's fancy, but because it's honest. It's the kind of spot that becomes part of your weekly routine. A Friday night staple. A rainy day savior.
Where to find them and how to get your fix
Located right off Route 120, Panda Chinese Restaurant is easy to spot with its modest storefront and glowing red signage. Whether you're coming from Round Lake, Libertyville, or just passing through Grayslake, it's worth the small detour. And don’t worry about parking—they’ve got plenty.
Their menu is available for both pickup and delivery, and you can call ahead to avoid the dinner rush. Payment is easy, the staff is efficient, and there’s rarely a wait longer than 15–20 minutes even during peak hours.
If you're into spicy, ask for their custom heat levels—they’ll tailor your dish to your liking. And if you're allergic to certain ingredients or have dietary preferences, just mention it. They’re accommodating and transparent, which isn’t always the case with smaller establishments.
Food was just fine. Haven't found my favorite dish yet. Service was friendly and the food was ready on time. We've ordered a few times.
